Sample-(Statistics, Used in all Disciplines of Research)- is a microcosmum of the main population and is selected by using a set of statistical rules including:

  • Cluster Sampling- A or the population is systematically divided into groups named clusters, random clustering is also used and every member is observed.
  • Stratified Sampling-
  • Simple Random Sampling-is considered elementary inference and gives equal probability of selection for each member of a population.

Sample Variance-(Statistics)- is the average of square differences between observations and the their mean.

Statistic-(Statistics, Used in all Disciplines of Research)- A numerical value measured and computed from a description or sample, it is used to describe the data or sample and to estimate the statistic relationship to the population sampled or described.

Statistics-(Statistics, Used in all Disciplines of Research)- The study and literal use of methods of collecting data, organizing data, analyzing and synthesizing data, and reporting numerically and descriptively information gathered in a manner that is understandable. The two most commonly used forms of Statistics are:

  • Descriptive Statistics- Statistical rules to organize and present data. Usually thought of as used for information that the general public can understand. It is Qualitative or categorical and may not be numeric, for example demographic information.
  • Inferential Statistics-Statistical rules based on samples that are generalized to a or the population. Usually thought of as more numerical. It is Quantitative meaning a numeric value.

Standard Deviation-(Statistics)- is measured based on the mean and variance, the variance is the average of square differences between observations and their mean, standard deviation is the square root of the variance and is more commonly used.

Standard Scores-(Statistics)- is the standardization of a data set or distribution through z-scores. z-scores give the data set or distribution a new mean and new standard deviation. A positive z-score is greater than the mean, a negative z-score is less than the mean.

Sum of Squares-(Statistics)- is measured based on the mean, it is specifically- the sum of squared deviations from the mean.
